1 苦难对于圣徒，
证明是真实的福分；
神常宽容他所恨恶的人，
因为主所爱的，他必管教。
1 Affliction to the saint,
A real blessing proves;
God often spares the men he hates,
And chastens those he loves.
2 被投入熔炉，
不过是要被炼净；
金子从那里出来，毫无污秽，
渣滓被留在后面。
2 Into the furnace cast,
Tis but to be refined;
The gold comes forth unsullied thence,
The dross is left behind.
3 那时猛烈的情欲平息，
你们埋怨的思想，都走开吧；
主啊，我顺服，你要掌权，
不要成就我的意思，只要成就你的意思。
3 Fierce passions then subside,
Ye murmuring thoughts be gone;
Lord, I submit, and thou shalt rule,
Thy will, not mine, be done.
