1 通往灭亡的路是宽的，
成千上万的人同行；
但智慧指示一条更窄的路，
只零星有些行路人。
1 Broad is the Road that leads to Death,
And Thousands walk together there;
But Wisdom shews a narrower Path,
With here and there a Traveller.
2 舍己，背起你的十字架，
是救赎主大的命令：
本性必须把黄金看作粪土，
若要得这天上的地土。
2 Deny thyself, and take thy Cross,
Is the Redeemer's great Command:
Nature must count her Gold but Dross,
If she would gain this heav'nly Land.
3 惧怕的灵魂疲倦昏倒，
不再行走神的道路，
只被看作几乎是圣徒，
又使自己的灭亡确定。
3 The fearful Soul that tires and faints,
And walks the Ways of God no more,
Is but esteem'd almost a Saint,
And makes his own Destruction sure.
4 主啊，求不要使我一切的盼望落空，
求造我的心全然更新，
这是伪善者永不能得到的，
这是假冒的背道者从未认识的。
4 Lord, let not all my Hopes be vain,
Create my Heart intirely new,
Which Hypocrites could ne'er attain,
Which false Apostates never knew.
