About “Draw Me Nearer” · 关于这首圣诗

Fanny Crosby (1820–1915) wrote “I am Thine, O Lord”, better known by its refrain “Draw me nearer”, in 1875, with music by her frequent collaborator William H. Doane. Crosby, blind from infancy, wrote thousands of hymn texts, many to melodies that Doane sent her. The refrain asks to be drawn to “the cross where Thou hast died” and Christ’s “precious, bleeding side”, imagery from John 19:34 and Hebrews 10:22.
