Piano Frequency Chart (88 Keys)

A complete professional reference table for every key on a standard piano, from A0 to C8.

Key # Note Name MIDI Frequency (Hz)

Using the Piano Frequency Chart in Production

The piano is often called the "King of Instruments" because its range covers almost the entire audible spectrum of human hearing. From the rumbling 27.5 Hz of the lowest A, to the crystalline 4,186 Hz of the highest C, the piano provides a perfect blueprint for frequency management in your mix.

EQ Strategies for Piano

  • Clearing the Mud: Most of the piano's "weight" lives between 100 Hz and 250 Hz. If your mix feels cluttered, try a gentle wide-Q dip in this region to let the vocal breathe.
  • Adding Presence: Frequencies between 2 kHz and 5 kHz handle the "attack" of the hammer hitting the string. Boosting here adds clarity and sparkle to a lead piano part.
  • Managing Subs: Unless the piano is the solo instrument, you should almost always high-pass everything below 50 Hz to leave room for the kick drum and bass.

Mathematical Tuning

This chart is based on the 12-Tone Equal Temperament (12-TET) system and the A4 = 440 Hz concert pitch standard. In this system, every octave increase represents an exact doubling of frequency.
