How to Use the Circle

Moving clockwise on the circle adds a sharp to the key signature (a jump of a perfect fifth). Moving counter-clockwise adds a flat (a jump of a perfect fourth). This is why it is often called the "Circle of Fourths and Fifths."

• Find Relative Minors: The inner circle shows the minor key that shares the same signature as its major counterpart.
• Chord Progressions: Chords next to each other on the circle are harmonically related and sound great together (like C, F, and G).
